Those around us

This post is not intended to make me look good or to make anyone feel guilty, but I thought I would share something that the Lord put on my heart yesterday. Let me just say I love our neighborhood. We have some really sweet people around us. I know that God gave us this wonderful neighborhood. When we came here we had only one day to find a house, and we didn't meet any of our neighbors until after we moved in. So, all of that said, yesterday I was out working in the yard and I was thinking about those around us, specifically the ones right next door; they have done so much for us (pick up our mail while we're gone, let the dog out, etc.,) and I was trying to think of something we could do for them. The wife was diagnosed with cancer this summer; although they caught it early and things look good; going through chemo is no cake-walk. So, as I was thinking, I got the idea, maybe we could bring her some cookies?? So, last night we made chocolate chip cookies, we actually decided to make a double batch so we could share with the teens tonight, too. As soon as they were cool enough to put on a plate (but still warm), Audrey and I went over and dropped them off. The wife came to the door, and she asked me how I knew that chocolate chip were her favorite. I was just glad to be a blessing to someone who has been a blessing to us.
So, my suggestion to you is who around you could use a blessing? It doesn't have to be extravagant or expensive; the hardest part, I think is taking time to think about those around you.
Take the challenge and be an encouragement this week!
